Abstract

This study is based on the need for physical strength to support the performance of swimmers, particularly in the 50-metre breaststroke competition, which requires maximum strength and speed. The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between arm muscle strength and leg muscle strength with the 50-metre breaststroke swimming ability of athletes at Searia Aquatic Swimming Club. The method applied in this study is correlational quantitative. Data collection was conducted through physical tests including pull-ups to measure arm muscle strength, squat jumps to measure leg muscle strength, and recording 50-metre breaststroke swimming times to assess swimming ability. The data analysis process used the Pearson Product Moment correlation test and multiple correlation analysis. The findings of this study indicate a significant relationship between arm muscle strength and 50-metre breaststroke swimming ability with a correlation value of 0.23, as well as a relationship between leg muscle strength and 50-metre breaststroke swimming ability with a correlation value of 0.62. Furthermore, the multiple correlation analysis yielded a result of 0.626, indicating that both independent variables have a strong simultaneous effect on 50-metre breaststroke swimming ability.
