Abstract

This study aims to determine how big the relationship between palm area and arm length is to the freestyle swimming speed of SeaRia Aquatic athletes in Padang City. This study uses a correlational method with a quantitative approach and involves 13 male athletes as samples selected by purposive sampling. The instruments in this study are 1) anthropometric tests consisting of measuring the palm area and arm length and 2) 50-meter freestyle swimming speed test. Data analysis techniques in this study use simple correlation analysis and multiple correlations. The results of this study are: 1) There is a significant relationship between palm area and 50-meter freestyle swimming speed of Sea-Ria athletes in Padang City, evidenced by a correlation test analysis of r count 0.776 r table 0.553. 2) There is a significant relationship between arm length and 50-meter freestyle swimming speed of Sea-Ria athletes in Padang City, evidenced by a correlation test analysis of r count 0.716 r table 0.553. 3) There is a significant relationship between palm area and arm length together with the 50-meter freestyle swimming speed of Sea-Ria athletes in Padang City, proven by a correlation test analysis of Rhitung 0.782 > Rtabel 0.553.
